💛 What three days do that two hour can't

#ISSUE 27

Reader

A single session opens something. An intensive doesn't let it close again unseen.

That's the actual difference - not more hours, not more technique. No going home in between. No Tuesday to hide behind. Whatever comes up on day one is still there on day three, and by then there's nowhere left to put it down.

A couple flew in for five days. Married a long time, doing well by every measure that gets measured. They came to grow the relationship - it wasn't broken, they just wanted more room in it and learn new techniques. What surfaced was a pattern neither of them had ever said out loud - not in years of therapy, not in the twenty minutes before bed.

You see it on day three, when the phone has stopped being the third person in the room and the body can't talk its way out of its own response anymore.

I see the same mechanism on single - persons intensives lately. A woman came to Berlin for three days last month. What moved in those three days doesn't happen across three separate Tuesdays. It needs the days to run into each other, unbroken.

"You can't see your own blind spot. Someone else can. That's the whole point of being witnessed."

That's the work I'm building toward, too - a place that holds this properly, days at a time, not an hour between other appointments.

For now, it's one room in Berlin, held for three days.

Last slot this year: 24-26 July, Berlin. Three days, one person - in deep presence.

#ISSUE 25 Reader I just came back from ten days in the Netherlands a few days ago. I was there as an assistant at a practitioner training - people learning this work, learning to be with bodies, learning to hold what comes up in another person without flinching or fixing. I wasn't teaching. I was watching, guiding supporting and holding space. And something in me is still settling from what I saw. There's a particular quality that enters a room when people stop managing themselves. Something...
